PICKING THE PICK 5/6 - Each day you will find my picks for the 50 cent PICK 5 and PLACE PICK 6. Choose a level of involvement to fit your Pick 5 budget. Of course, the more involved you get, the greater chance you have of hitting a PICK 5.

Day 27 - Friday, July 15, 2011
Friday, July 15, 2011 - The final Harry Potter movie is out, so I will be at a 10:30am showing and will not be able to update these picks until near the start of the wagers. I will update when I get to Monmouth. Race 10, the last leg of the Pick 5, I like the #11 (AE). I have not included 11 in the tickets. If #11 draws in we would want to include the horse. In the 50¢ Place Pick 6: 5,8,9 with 7,8 with 4,7 with 4,6,7 with 3 with 1,4. That is a $36 play.
2:35pm-update-I just arrived after the Harry Potter finale. It was great!!!!!! On the racing front the #7 scratches out of race 6, so in the Place Pick 6 I substituted the #1. I will be back with an update on my Pick 5 play.
3:00pm-update-Third place in leg 2 of Place Pick 6. I am posting an alternate All Top Choice ticket for the Pick 5 with a cost of $72. We had 2 backup horses and a top choice scratch.
3:25pm-update-That's the way to start the Pick 5 with a 14-1 Top Choice!
4:20pm-update-Still alive in Pick 5 to 1,5,8 with 5,10. Only one favorite in the first 3 legs. Caffe D'Oro goes :54-2 for 5 furlongs on the turf to set a new track record.
5:20pm-update-Fourth leg our 9-1 shot (the #1) loses a photo by a nose (see below) to an 8-1 shot and when the 4/5 favorite wins the last leg the Pick 5 pays $4673.10. So if we had won that photo it would have paid around that same amount for 50¢. ARGHHHH!
